FrontPage 2000 on Windows XP Professional 2002 w/Svc Pack2

I just had my platform upgraded from Win XP Home to Win XP Professional 2002
with Service Pack 2. I loaded my FrontPage 2000 application back onto my
computer and tried to open the website I previously created and could
previous edit from the server it's hosted on. However, now it won't open and
just hangs. Any suggestions? Is there some compatibility issue?

No compatibility issue, but check your Windows Firewall settings and IE connections settings.

I checked the firewall - it is not turned on and the Internet connection
looks okay (MSN Explorer) but still no success.
I uninstalled FrontPage and reinstalled. I did get a "MS Server Extensions"
dialog box during installation saying it was "Unable to access configuration
for Microsoft Personal Web Server". However, the website is hosted on an
external server. Other than that the 'successful setup' message came up.
When opening the website, I am able to log into the server but immediately
the error message "Microsoft FrontPage Application Encountered a Problem"
appears. I did report it to MS but that doesn't resolve the problem.
Any more suggestions?

Uninstall PWS from FP 2000 - control panel add remove programs - change FP
- also uninstall the FP 2000 SE
Windows XP does not support PWS Pro
On Windows XP Pro you need to install and run IIS if you want a local server
control panel add remove programs windows components - IIS (don't select the FP 2000 SE)

For the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions Support Center see:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;en-us;fp10se

1) Download FP 2002 Server Extensions:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnservext/html/fpse02win.asp
English ones are at:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/FrontPage2002/fpse1002/1/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/FPSE1002.exe
2) Download FP2002 Server Extensions Updates (and install in this order):
http://download.microsoft.com/download/FrontPage2002/fpse1001/1/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/fpse1001.exe
http://download.microsoft.com/download/FrontPage2002/fpse1002/1/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/fpse1002.exe
3) Install the Security Patch at:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;813380
4) Then to apply them see:

FP2000 doesn't install the PWS.

I'm having the exact same problem Debbie described. So what is the fix for
getting Front Page 2000 to work on Windows XP? (and what is "the PWS"?)
Thanks.

I don't know, as I have never had a problem with installing or running FP2000, which I use daily, or
with FP2002 or FP2003 under Windows XP Home or Pro, with or without SP1, SP1a or SP2.

PWS = Personal Web Server. Would only be installed if FP98 is install with installation defaults.
