FrontPage 2000 - instant "connection timed out" message

I am using FrontPage 2000 to manage my personal website and have run into a
problem on my home laptop. When I try to open a web page, I am instantly
greeted by the message "Error retrieving '.........htm' - the connection
timed out or was aborted by the server."

First of all, I have installed FrontPage 2000 on my Dell laptop at the
office and I can access the site, open web pages, edit material, etc. without
any problems on the Dell laptop.

The problem exists only on my home laptop...an HP Pavilion ze1250, using XP,
Yahoo DSL, 1.8 G Processor, 512 MB SD RAM, etc. I had the host reset the
FrontPage Extensions (which did nothing), then I had him totally reset the
webpage. Resetting the webpage corrected the problem until I published the
material on the site again...then the error message popped back up. I had
him reset the site 3 times and the error never occurred at the same point
during recreating the site. Is there some setting that may be causing
FrontPage to give me the "timed out" error message INSTANTLY. Maybe some
sort of firewall settings, or something like that??? A fairly significan
portion of the site contains .wmv files which range in size from 1MB to 18MB.
If file size is the problem, then why is FrontPage still working correctly
on the office laptop???

I've been trying to figure it out for a week now and have no idea what is
going on with the home laptop.

Do you have the Yahoo Toolbar installed, it block port 80, which FP need to connect.

select the Yahoo toolbar for uninstall?

I have uninstalled the Yahoo Toolbar and I'm still getting the same message
the instant I try to open one of my web pages.

You might want to check with Yahoo DSL, to see if they block Port 80, as a way to prevent
subscribers from being able to run a web server.

Do you have any firewall applications installed?

I don't have any firewall applications installed...I'll check with Yahoo DSL
to see if they block Port 80...I'll post any information that I uncover.

Thanks,
Wade

That's what I found out from SBC Yahoo DSL today Kathleen...thanks. Do you
have any other ideas as to what might be causing my system on my home laptop
to give me the error message when I try to open a web page?

I figured out a solution to the problem on another discussion board
http://forums.dixiesys.com/lofiversion/index.php?t5382.html

Apparantly there are issues between Norton Internet Security and FrontPage
2000. In order to get around the "error retrieving..." message, you must
first disable Norton Internet Security before opening FrontPage 2000. Once I
did that, I can now edit the pages with no problems!

But you should have to disable NIS to use FP
You need to set NIS Personal Firewall Configure Program Control to allow FP
