Froms without FP extensions

P

Pat Coleman

Using FP to publish a web on a server with no FP extensions and the only
thing I really need is to make a few simple forms where I can validate
certain fields, return a screen when form is filled out correctly.

Any body know a simple way around this without using FP ectensions on the
server.

Locate a script in a search engine that works with your server's
capabilities, such as formmail.pl - it isn't going to happen with FrontPage.

Contact your host to see if they have a form handler you can use or what server-side script language
they support, then search for form handler written in that language.

You need a third-party script to process the form data to your email or
flat-text file or database. try www.hotscripts.com and there are thousands
of other sites out there offering free scripts.

Is that all you really need? If people are going to fill out these forms,
you're just going to throw away whatever they put in the form?

The purpose of a form handler is to process form data - to DO something with
it. That requires a program on the server that DOES whatever needs to be
done with the data. If you don't use FrontPage server extensions, you willl
use some other server-side programming technology.
