from windows nt domain trying to net use i get

using a nt user from the nt4 trusted domain I get the messsage.

there are currently no logon servers available to service the logon
request when trying to net use a share on the windows 2000ad.


From the windows 2000 ad + user I can map a drive no problem to the nt 4
domain.

Odd thing is i can log onto the nt4 domain pdc with a user from the
windows 2000 ad domain.

any ideas?

I had to add the 1x0c and 1x0b entries in the lmhost files on both ends to
actually get the trusts to work.

Can you describe your network topology. This error normaly shows, that your
client can not locate a domain controller for that domain. Are you using
WINS server ?

Each of my client sites has their own wins server, they then replicate
that information to the main office.
Each site has its own domain.
Ihave no problem resolving the names of either sites.
Only the main office is windows 2000 ad, native mode.

I now have another office which cannot connect

it is so odd. If i log onto one dc and look at a domain local which has a
member from another domain it cannot get the user account just the s-1,
and gives a error
i log onto the other dc and it comes up with user name, no problem

i am starting to get a bit worried..
any help would be much appreciated

Found the problem

Although wins, dns, and browser lists were working, when I did my last bdc
and went to native mode, it dropped the trusts to two of my offices.
I had to put lmhosts files with server name, domain name, and 1xc 1xb
entries on both sides before the trust would come back up.
