From the Ground Up, Building a message board into FP

OK- So I like FP and I've been using it for a while, but
let's face it, the message board functionality is less
than perfect. What can I do as a rather inexperienced
developer to incorporate a quality message board service
into my site? Is it a matter of hiring a pro to do this,
or will it be something I can do on my own.

As always, I greatly appreciate the tips.

Do a search for pre-written forum application, these are available written
in ASP, PHP, and CGI-Perl. The type to look for depends on what your host
supports or is willing to support. All will requires a specific type of
database support.

In IE you can search by doing the following in the Address bar:

? ASP Forum Applications

or

PHP Forum Applications
