From-the-front truncation when unique values: on?

Howdy!

I've got a strange situation, here... When I turn on the "unique values" option to yes, some of the data in some of the fields is truncated from the -front-, and if I turn the "unique values" option back to no, the missing data shows up.

Has anyone seen this?

Does anyone know how to fix it?

Memo fields? They don't work properly. Never seen a problem with Text or
Numeric fields.
