Hi
Today I picked up my new pc, installed XP Pro, the
updates on Feburary's security updates cd and all the
windows updates available and then downloaded the network
install of SP2 (I have a number of pcs but this is the
first time I have attempted to install SP2).
The install went through fine. It was installed without
any other applications running (at all) and went through
to the "installation complete, please restart" page.
I restarted, but now the system hangs during boot time.
If I attempt to boot in Safe Mode, the boot gets stuck on
Mup.sys (which as I gather from googling is a rather
common error).
Now, I understand that some people have successfully
gotten around this problem by flashing their BIOS to the
latest version but my ASUS Terminator T2 bare bones
motherboard is flashed to the latest version and sadly
this doesnt work.
Is there any possible way (such as a replacement mup.sys
I can copy over) to repair this install or am I just
going to have to bite the bullet and reinstall?
Thanks for your time,
Richard J Ellis
