Freezing with music and sound

whenever i play music through media player, or have any sound at all my compputer freezes up. It is a brand new comper so we don't know what is wrong with it. Do we need to take it in somewhere

Back to the place it was purchased - until that make it right. A brand
new PC should function well.

Right-click My Computer, select properties, go to the hardware tab,
click on device manager. Do you see any item with a yellow triangle of
warning?

The sound card may need drivers, which you may have got in a CD.
Being a brand new computer with these problems, you should use your
warranty.
