Freezing when I add too many clips

I have been trying to make an AMV and I really enjoy it. I loaded an mp3 and
started using the auto made clips to start syncing and making the AMV. After
I load about 8 clips on to the timeline, and I try adding another, the entire
program just shuts down. I am going to list what my comp has for specs. Let
me know if you have any solutions. Thanks!

Compaq Presario V3000
AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2
..61 GHz, 960 MB of RAM
80 GB harddrive
