Freezing/Stalling

I have 4 users on my machine running XP Pro. Lately when I boot up and
attempt to log into one of my users it doesn't. So I have to power off and
power back on to log on. Any clues as to why this is happening?
I have all the latest and the greatest patches from MS. Some have suggested
to me that all these patches are creating the clogging?

It could be that user profile is corrupted.
