I am running 2 HDD in my system, C drive is a 160 Gb
Western Digital as my system drive is the only drive on
the 1st channel of a Promise ATA-100 controler card. My
other D drive is a 40 Gb Wetern Digital on the 2nd
channel of the same controller card. I only use this
drive for extra storage so it does not do a lot of work.
My problem is every time I try to move data on or off of
this drive my system freezes and will not unlock. NO
MATTER WHAT! I mean not even Ctrl-Alt-Delete will work no
matter how long it sits. The only way out is to power off.
My system specs are : Pentium 4 2400 GHz
512 MB pc-133
AIW 9000 Pro video card
Sound blaster live 5.1 sound card
Promise ATA-100 controler card
TDK 32X VeloCD burner

Could you move the drive to a IDE channel Temporarily and see what
happens?

Are the drives set to master? If so, remove the jumper, master is often not
good in single HD IDE. Try CS, cable select, or just removing the jumper
completely to see if helps. IDE cable do go bad too. Be sure drive is at
last, end, connector.
