freeze row AND column simultaneously

C

Chris Cornell

How do I freeze a row and a column simultaneously? No matter how far and
away one scrolls, I want the 'client's title' row and date column to be
frozen at the same time. I can only freeze one at a time, because by wanting
to freeze the second I must unfreeze the other.

Here's a visual in case I'm not clear.
Visual...

Static/Frozen Row 1 = Different Client Names
Static/Frozen Column B = Date

_______CLIENT__________________ (Row 1 Hold Static)
(Column l
A l C
Hold l E
Static) D L C
A L E
T S L
E L
l S
l

hi
place the cellpointer in b2 then go window>freeze pane.
row 1 and column A are now frozen.
column A will scroll down with the rest of the cells but row 1 will not.
column A will be frozen when scrolling right.
you can freeze the upper most row(s) and the left most column(s) but you
cannot freeze a row or column that is in the middle of the sheet.

If you want to freeze columns A and B (not clear from your post which
one(s) you want) as well as row 1, then place your cursor in cell C2
then click on Window | Freeze Panes.

If you want to freeze just column A with row 1, then place the cursor
in B2 and Window | Freeze Panes.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

And if you find this useful, you can add a Freeze Panes toolbar button to
any of your toolbar. Right-click any toolbar and choose Customize. Select
the Commands tab, and then the Windows & Help Category. Scroll down the
Commands list on the right until you find Freeze Panes. Drag it to any one of
your toolbar and drop it. This is a toggle button and very useful.
