There's a new extension for FireFox that will add items to the IE context
menu allowing you to open links or view pages in FireFox. It's called
FireFoxView.

Further details at
http://update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=223&vid=618 or
http://www.iosart.com/firefox/firefoxview/ .

This is a godsend for Foxmail users - you can now open email html links in
FireFox. To open text-viewed email links you should install FoxTool (again
free - currently release candidate v1.RC5). A list of download mirrors can
be viewed at http://www.hazeleger.net/cgi-
bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=SupFoxTool;action=display;num=1093542091 (sorry for
the long link).

Sorry if this is a repost.

WTF? How can it be a Firefox extension if it alters IE's menus?

Have a look at it and see. You install into Firefox, close & restart FireFox to set the changes
& whoo-hoo - it's in your IE context menu. (You might need to close FireFox a second time to
complete - I can't remember whether I had to or not).

The fact that the other poster used an anonymous service to
announce it, didn't add to its credibility.

Still, it's fine.

I only use Quicksilver to post anonymously for 2 reasons. 1) My ISP disconnects accounts of
those posting to news groups with false addresses & 2) I hate spam, so I won't post with my real
details.

If it was a dodgy product, it wouldn't be on the official FireFox extensions page.

It really does surprise me how many people download & run a fantastic free product like FireFox,
but don't take advantage of it's add-ons which allow them to customise the product to their own
liking & add many extra functions.

If you open up FireFox, click on the "Tools" menu. You will see the extensions option - open it
& select "get more extensions" to be taken to the official FireFox extensions page.

I use quite a few FF extensions, actually. :) The description of this
particular one sounded weird to me, that's all. So, if I install it,
and open an IE window, and right-click the IE window, I can open that
page in FF? Isn't that like the opposite of the "Open in IE" extension
for FF? I don't understand what this new extension is supposed to do.
Why would I be using IE if FF is my default browser? What point am I
missing here?

Exactly right.

I suppose there is a group of people who use IE (or shells) mainly but
may switch to Firefox for certain dodgy pages. Or a webmaster who uses
mainly IE but wants to occasionally view pages in Firefox to see how his
pages appear.

It's more of a IE extension actually, it just uses Firefox's XPI system
to install.

Also checkout OPTOOL http://www.kreacom.dk/tools/optool/

This pops up a menu and you can choose which browser to go to in order to
see the same page rendered by the new browser. Nice.

For Firefox, IE and Opera.
