Son Of Spy

It's big.

Haven't had time to more than peruse a few pages at this time,
but this is a clear sign that China is becoming a true power in the
online world....

Mainpage is in Chinese but all the program pages are in English...

Cheers!

Good call. Compare pages side by side, and you see the main difference,
other than some omitted header tables, it's the date of update. In the
example pair below, the real Webgrid site has last updated entry at
12/10/2004, and the stealing site has a mirror with last updated entry
at 16/05/04.

http://www.webgrid.co.uk/antivirus.html

These are definitely entirely different people involved for the true .UK
site, compared to the Beijing domain. As shown by a WHOIS lookup.

While I cannot state it factually, as have not corresponded with Webgrid's
owner, I am fully convinced, by looking: that there is not any voluntary
agreement at hand, that the webgrid site owner did not consent to having
his content placed in full on another site. Note that there is no link to
be found anywhere to acknowledge the www.webgrid.co.uk site, amongst the
other reasons for holding this view.

If this case somehow gets shown to have involved consent, then I will be
utterly shocked (and would have to eat my words etc). But as now, every
sign and instinct tells me this is a case of outright theft. And as such,
the Beijing thing should not be linked nor supported.

A simple 'view source' would show you that the pages came from WebGrid.
However, unlike one of the other posters, I wouldn't be so quick to run off
at the mouth about telling people to stay away from the site without first
checking with the original owners and finding out what the actual status is.

Hmmm... as I said I didn't have time to do more that see the extent of
the listings. The possibility also exists that chinese users would be
restricted from some foreign sites whereas a locally hosted site would
be allowed...not a total excuse fro their actions but <<we can't read
the chinese on the front page either>>> hehe.

Is onefreeware a mirror of WebGrid?

onefreeware.com is not related to nor endorsed by Bob McKenzie (WebGrid) in
any manner whatsoever. They've simply nicked his layout/content, plain and
simple (I've sent an e-mail to Bob about this).

Sorry if this is duped..

Thanks Steven for pointing this out.

I have written to the webmaster of onefreeware asking him/her to remove the outright theft of my site. Whether my message will be understood is another matter as I can't write in Chinese! One can only assume that if my material has been presented in English then they must be able to read English.

If it is not removed then I will be contacting their ISP provider with a view to halting bandwidth on the account as it is being used illegally
