I'm looking for a filemanager that is a little more robust than
Windows Explorer. Running windows 2000 here sp4 if that matters. I
have tried xplorer2 but for some reason I keep getting gdiplus.dll
errors all the time after a few runs. Any suggestions would be
helpful.

TIA

I recommend freeCommander:

Dual-panel technology - horizontal and vertical
Optional tree view for each panel
Built in file viewer to view files in hex, binary, text or image
format
File viewer inside archives too
Built in archive handling: ZIP (read, write), CAB (read, write), RAR
(read)
Nested archive handling
Easy access to system folders, control panel, desktop and start menu
Copy, move, delete, rename files and folders
Wipe files
Create and verify MD5 checksums
File splitting
File properties and context menu
Calculation of folder size
Folder comparison / synchronization
Modification of file date and attributes
Folder / program favorites
File searching (inside archive too)
File filters for display
DOS command line
Multiple language support

Sorry, don't have a filemanager to recommend.
But I was observing a similar error (gdiplus.dll missing) with
DeepBurner Free. I'm suspecting OpenOffice, as the error disappears if I
rename the OpenOffice directory. Therfore my question: Do you have
OpenOffice installed?

Kind regards,
Uli

You might try TrackerV3, but you may need to install gdiplus.dll on W2000.

<quote> Dependencies: GdiPlus.dll. Only for operating systems older than
Windows XP. From ver 3.30 onwards TrackerV3 needs GdiPlus.dll (GDI+) to be
installed. GdiPlus.dll is installed with the .NET framework and included
with Windows XP. For Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows NT
4.0 and Windows 98, and only if TrackerV3 does not run at all because
GdiPlus.dll is not present on your system, you can download the file from
this site:

The download URL for TrackerV3 is: http://www.trackerv3.com/download.htm

Funny you mention that, I too have OpenOffice installed and find that
when I uninstall it the error vanishes. Funny thing is I have for the
life of me found anyone anywhere with the same problem, until now.
Kind of hard to troubleshoot when nobody else seems to experience it.
Thanks for the reply, if for nothing else I know i'm not losing my
mind.

Sounds excellent, thanks for the recommendation.

Nice!

Still wish I could have a full drive tree down the left hand side a la
Windows explorer...I just find this a more intuitive way of navigating
the drives rather than using a menu up top to switch between drives.

Will try out the infamous 'multiple delete' test later, see if it
falls over....

Hello guys,

I would have loved to have some facilites where I could filter using command
line eg typed in a text box
*.xls etc
anything around?

I very much prefer the 2xEplorer, I have used it for years, don't
like the later versions, or the xplorer2.

Using "FolderBox" (www.baxbex.com) as an Windows Explorer plug-in, you get
the benefit of a dual-pane file manager. The free version permits up to
five tabbed pointers, and several nice features. You can turn it on or off,
but I always keep it on. I also use Xplorer2 lite, but prefer the former
when I need to view my pictures in "filmstrip" mode (something Xplorer2 lite
doesn't have).

Regards ...

Now that you're asking: TrackerV3 do this since today! And you can even add
2 or more patterns separated by ";". Check out the latest BETA version...
