There are several webservers written in Python, and most of them are cross-
platform. Some (very) simple examples are included with the default
libraries, but there are also more complex ones. Note that most of the
more complex ones are built into a web framework--they are not intended to
be used to serve static HTML pages.

Sambar is not Freeware !!
there is a Pro Version and and a demo Version which includes the Pro
features but only betweeen 9AM and 5PM

Sambar is both freeware and shareware
If you want to use Mail Server (SMTP, POP3, Fetcher & WebMail),
WebDAV, Document Manager, JavaEngine Servlet Runner (unlimited),
CScript ASP Engine (unlimited), DNS Server/Proxy, SOCKS4/5 Proxy,
Simple Telnet Server & Proxy and Search Engine Spider then you have to
buy the Pro version http://www.sambar.com/syshelp/pro.htm .

The non-Pro server does not have timeouts or degraded performance on
any of its functionality (except Servlet Runner).
