Free cell

Hi,

A close friend purchased a new PC with vista with the game FreeCell. It is
different from the FreeCell she is used to in an XP PC. I have tried to
move the old free cell files from my XP PC to the vista PC to no avail.
Is there any way to obtain a copy of the old exact FreeCell that will
capable of being installed in a vista PC.
Thanks for any idea.

Different? I've played FreeCell on both my XP and Vista computers and
there's no difference. Don't know what she could be talking about, but the
two games are identical, other than enhanced graphic operations in the Vista
version.

In a similar way, I have found that the solitaire game I was
used to on Windows 3.1 and 2000 has been replaced by a
"fancier" version that I don't like, and which has
"enhancements" that detract from the game for me and which I
cannot disable. Any way to get the "3.l/2000" version back
on my Vista?

Not true. Differences are small, but they do exist. For example, in
the XP version, you can't back up past the first play after a new row
of cards is dealt. In the Vista version, you can.

Interesting -- I've never tried to back up, other than to restart a game
that's stuck! But then I usually don't have to. ;)

Not true, on Vista, (I have home premium version) you cannot restart the
game. That option is one. You have to use the new "backup" repeatedly. Also
FreeCell does not flash when you have only one move left.

This is an example of taking a great product and making it worse by trying
to improve it.
