fp2000 hangs trying to open site

I have 2 sites I work with on the same IIS server . Last week I
suddenly couldn't open one of them. After clicking on open, FP just
hangs; the task manager shows the task at 97% cpu usage, and memory
usage continues to grow (I finally killed it at ~300M). Nothing
changed last week as far as I can tell, and the two sites are similar.

I reinstalled, to no avail. This same problem happened to me a few
months back, and the company techs (unfamiliar with FP) simply wiped
my HD and reloaded everything, which fixed it, but obviously not
permanently. My co-worker who works on the same stuff as me has never
experienced this.

I'm running FP2000 on XP Pro. Any suggestions other than reformatting?

Find and delete the cmdui.prf file for FrontPage - this is the file that
stores your customizations and preferences for the FrontPage Menu and it
will get rebuilt, using the defaults, the next time you start FrontPage.

Also, delete the cached (and possibly corrupted) copies of your webs - Close
FrontPage, and do a Find | Files and Folders | Named *.web, and delete
them.

And, delete FP temp files and IE temp files.
