FP wants me to configure Publisher!

When I open FP I am asked 4 times to configure Publisher 2002. I wonder
why??

Thanks, Yes, but why should it be associated with FP in any way?

Thank you, but how do I stop it? It doesn't do that with WORD.

I dunno, but try letting it finish...see what happens.
 
The easiest way is to repair / reinstall publisher.

The hard way is to dig through the registry and find and delete
an incorrect entry.
There should be entries in the system logs in computer management
that will give you an idea of what is causing the error.
