FP does not show folder

I moved a folder with an articles, photos, etc, into another folder
temporarily, until I could get back to working on it. But now, when I try to
find the original folder, FP does not show it. I can find it in Windows
Explorer, but no trace of it in FP. If I try to create another folder with
the same name, FP says that a folder with this name already exists. I
created another folder with a slightly different name and tried to copy the
files from the old folder to the new with Explorer, but FP does not show
them. I finally managed to save my work by copying all the files into a
third folder, outside of FP, and then importing them back into a new folder
in FP. The old folder had a read-only attribute (don't know why) but I
changed that. It did not have a hidden attribute.

Anybody know what happened?

The folder has mysteriously reappeared. I don't know why. I tried closing
FP and reopening it several times, but the folder still did not show. Then I
went and did something else for a couple of hours. and when I opened FP
again the folder was there.

Gremlins?

If you did anything to the folder in Windows Explorer,
FP knows nothing about it
Always run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks if you have changed anything in a FP web outside of FP

With FrontPage closed, delete the web cache files at
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
If these are not updated, or get corrupted, folders in a web sometimes
go "missing" or occasionally double up.
There is a tool for this at www.95isalive.com/fixes/

I made the original move in FP. I resorted to Windows Explorer in order to
save my work.

Thanks, Ron.

I assume you are recommending FP Cleaner, which I already have and use. I
didn't think of it in this case, though. If something like that happens
again, I'll remember it.

Thanks, Stefan.

I'll keep this in mind. Normally, I don't move any FP files or folders
outside of FP, but this time I managed to save my work by copying the files
to a location outside of FP and reimporting them. I mention this because it
might help someone who runs into a similar problem.
