I'm trying to publish a file from one server to another in
FP 2003. I'm getting the following message:

Server error: Cannot rename "filename.htm.tmp"

Can anyone give me a clue as to why this is happening?

Thanks, in advance.

Cannot rename file:
---------------------------
This error message indicates that the disk storage limit for the account
has been reached.

FrontPage requires a minimum of 5MB of free space to create a temporary
file during publishing,
updating or recalculating a web on the remote server. If the disk limit is
reached before those processes are completed, FP will return an error.

In order to correct this error and allow FrontPage to have sufficient space
without corrupting
your extensions, you can delete some files on the server, you may either
upgrade your account or purchase additional disk space.

Hope this helps

Unfortunately, this is not the problem. There is more than
enough disk storage space on the remote server that I am
trying to publish to. And, I would have difficulty
publishing other files if this were the case.

I have tried removing the contents of the file and then
republishing the file with success. However when I copy
the contents back in, reformat (trying several different
settings), optimize (trying several different settings) I
still get the server error. I have tried copying chunks of
the file at a time and this works up to a certain point
and then when it fails, it will not work until all content
is removed again. This is a particularly important page
since it contains information that is accessed throughout
our site.

Does anyone have anything more specific that I can look
at... I can supply the file if necessary. I'm working in
FP2003 and we are running Server Extensions 2002.

Thanks,
Debbie

The space I was talking about has to do with the server's temp space, not the space allotted to your
account.

Have you asked your host to run a check on the extensions for your account?
Have you done the other step I suggested on your local machine, with FP closed?
