FP 2002 Update Problem

We are moving a large FP website to a site on a new hosting company. The
initial publish operation went OK, but now whenever we update the site, we
get a number of messages (maybe a dozen or so) saying that there are files
on the server that are not on our local disk copy of the site. However,
these files certainly do exist. If we tell it not to delete the files,
everything works until the next update.

Just as a trial, we answered "Yes" to the delete question and it deleted the
files from the server. On the next update, since these files are part of the
site and are on our local disk, it put them back onto the server and then
came up with a *different* list of files that it wanted to delete.

Any idea of what might be going on here? Since this is a new host I am
tempted to think that it is something to do with their version or
installation of the FP extensions. Are there any known compatibility
problems?

What type of file are generating these messages?

It varies, but a number of them are GIF files, such as button images, etc.
They are definitely still linked, since when we let it delete them from the
server, a look at our web site from a browser showed that, yes, the images
were no longer being served up .

How did you move the site to the new server, publish directly from the old server to the new server
or did you publish a local copy to the new server?

If you publish directly from the old server to the new server, and are now trying to update the new
server from a local copy, this can happen as the new server and local copy are not in-sync.

To solve this, you will need to do a full publish from the new server down to your local copy, redo
any changes made locally, then you should be able to publish your local copy back the new server
using the Change Page Only option.

We did publish directly from the local copy to the new server. In any case,
after repeatedly letting FP delete and replace various files, it now appears
to have "healed" itself and we are no longer getting these messages. Thanks
for your help in any case!
