I have been using FP 2000 for almost a year and by no means am I an expert.

I am trying to long into my website like always. It asks me for my user ID and password, I enter it and then nothing happens (it looks as though it is trying to open the site). Eventually, it tells me that FP is no longer responding and freezes. I have to use the task manager to shut the program down.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, added new updates etc. and nothing has changed. HELP!

Does your site use the FrontPage extensions??
If so have your host reinstall or repair the extensions.

Also Have you tried the usual repairs in the sequence below:
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
- in FP 2003 you need to look in the super hidden folder
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
3) Run a Repair on IE
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 )
4) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, MS Office and your Video card
(Windows Update and Office Update sites, plus your video card supplier site)
5) Open FP and Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins,
6) Open your FP Web/Site and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks
