Four DIMMs (4GB total) on Socket 939?

I'm building a new system based on the Asus A8N-SLI and AMD FX-55. This
will be my first non-Intel machine, ever.

The Asus motherboard has four DIMM slots. I was originally planning on
running four sticks of 512MB 2-2-2 latency DDR400. But, after an email
discussion with OCZ, they told me that rarely can AMD64 motherboards work
properly with four memory sticks due to not being able to support all four
DIMMS if they are dual sided. Actually, they said it would work, but I'd
have to slow down to DDR333.

I checked the Asus memory qualification list for this particular
motherboard, but they do not list any 2-2-2 DIMMs.

Therefore, I'm planning on buying two dual-channel kits (4 DIMMs total) of
Kingston value RAM of 2GB each. That is, four 1GB sticks at DDR400.
According to the Asus memory qualified list, I can supposedly run four
sticks of this memory type.

I'd like to fill the memory slots with a total of 4GB of RAM, running at 3-
3-3 and DDR400 with the Kingston modules.

Does this make sense that this will indeed work? Or am I asking for
trouble. Has anyone run 4GB in a Socket 939 motherboard?

Please excuse my ignorance - but I am new to these issues with AMD memory
compatibility.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

You should contact Asus Tech Support with your question if your manual
doesn't make it clear. I know with the 939-pin MSI boards the K8T Via
chip set claims it will only run at 400MHz with single sided memory and
drops to 333MHz with double sided. The K8N nVidia chip set doesn't make
any kind of reference.

I'm planning on building a socket 939 SLI system once it settles in,
probably in the second quarter of 2005. My list of components is constantly
being updated, and i've currently listed the following 2x 1GB Corsair XMS
3-3-3-8 kit:

Why do you feel the need for 4GB? Perhaps you would be better off getting a
similar kit. By the time you build your system, there might be a 2x 1GB
unbuffered/ non-ECC / PC3200 kit with lower timings.
