I have been using Excel for years and have always had great success. However
in just the past few days I have been working my taxes and Excel has been
acting a little weird. Example, I will enter a simple formula, basically
just adding one to two boxes and it works just fine when I first enter the
formula, when I change one of the values the SUM box will not change, yet it
is showing the correct formula but it will not update with a change of input
vaules to the boxes that the sum box is referencing????? It's driving me
crazy.....

You've probably got manual calculation turned on.
Tools;Options;Calculation--make sure Automatic is checked.

Try tools -> Options -> calculation and make sure automatic is checked

Yes I did check that and it is on automatic but it won't calculate
automatically??? I have tried everything I can think of to remedy the
situation.
