Formulas Not Working

Hi, I am trying to create a formula but excel will not recognize it as a
formula. Even a formula as simple as =1+1 will not work. When I hit enter it
still displays =1+1 instead of calculating the formula. I've tried a number
of different formulas all with the same result. Any ideas why it is not
working? Thanks

You have the cell(s) formatted to text? Format to General and you'll be OK.
Go to <Format><Cells><General><OK>

And after formatting, re-enter the formula (F2, ENTER)

That must have been the problem. I had inserted a number of rows & they were
the ones I was having trouble with. I just ended up dragging a different
formula over and started the formula over. It must have copied to format of
the cell which fixed the problem. Thank you for your fast response.
