Formula will not calculate

I have a spread sheet that does simple arithmetic (adding and subtracting).
For some reason, the formula will not calculate in the field unless I save
it, then I see the resulting calculation. Anyone have any idea what is
causing this?

This was posted in the wrong place. I have already rec'd a solution from the
"Worksheet Function" discussion area.
