Formula results don't change when it's pasted/dragged into a new c

Hello,

We have a very basic excel worksheet which we used to track our employees
weekly hours worked.

For some reason when I copy or paste/drag a formula into any new cells in
this worksheet, the result of the forumla is the result from the original
cell. The forumla does not work for the new range of data. I've verified
that the data range defined in the forumla is correct. Inorder to make the
copied/pasted formula work, I have to select the formula cell and highlight
the data range, and only then will the formula give the result for the
column/row.

Also when I enter new data into a specific range with a pre-existing
forumla, it doesn't automatically calculate the results, instead I again have
to select the formula cell and highlight the data range, inorder for it to
give the result for the column/row.

Please let me know if there is anything we can do to fix this, and not
create a totally new worksheet.

Thank you!

It would have helped if you had shown us an example of a formula
Are they using absolute referencing?
For example if I have =SUM(A1:A20) in cell A21 and copy it to cell C50 it
will read =SUM(C30:C49)

But if I have =SUM($A1$A$20) then it will always read this when I copy it
not mater where I paste.
best wishes

Press the [F9] key. If the formulas update then your worksheets calculation
settings may have been changed from Automatic to Manual. See the Excel help
files on worksheet calculation method.
Best Regards.
