Formula Question - starts "=+"

Chaps,

Advanced User of Excel, but I've never seen this one before.

Formula could normally be =D18

I'm looking at somebody else's work and they've entered =+D18

The right answer is still shown.

What does =+ do? What are the differences to simply =?

They think that they are still using LOTUS. No difference but shouldn't be
used.
 
A lot of accountants using the 10-keypad will start formulas with the + sign.
Excel automatically inserts the = sign ahead of the + sign.
