formula execution cell properties

Hello all,

I have a problem with a particular workbook. It appears that som
properties have been inadvertently set such that all formulas ar
treated as text. Example, I enter a simple formula with cel
references into a cell =50*L6

L6 contains the numeric value, 40. I should get 2000 in the cell bu
when I hit return, it simply preserves the text format of the formul
=50*L6 rather than calculating.

I have tried copying and pasting the values from this sheet into
separate workbook but the properties seem to be carried along with i
and I am back where I started.

Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank

I have had similar problems with imported text. It's probably not the
best way, but what I do is go to a columns far to the right and enter my
formula. It usually returns the number, not the formula. Then I Cut
and Paste the entire column where I actually want it.

Try formatting that range as General and then reenter your formula.

If you have lots of existing formulas, format the range as general and
edit|replace = with = (equal sign with an equal sign).
