Formula displays as text in one cell

In a multi-sheet workbook, there is one cell on one sheet that consistently displays formulas as text. Even the simplest of cell references displays as text instead of displaying the contents of the referenced cell. I have exhausted my limited resources to explain why this is happening. Any ideas?

Hi
the cell is probably formated as 'Text'. Goto 'Format - Cells' and
change the format to 'General'. Reenter your formula

I think your cell is formated as text

Select the cell and do Format>Cells in the menubar
Change it to general.

Press F2
OK

Thanks for the help. That solved the problem. I thought I had checked that, but apparently I was mistaken.
