Something that T's me off to no end is when I'm editing a formula that is longer than one line, the formula bar will expand down and cover the column headers

Is there some way to change the formatting on the formula bar so that when it expands to multiple lines, it doesn't cover the Column Headings

This had bugged me since day one with Excel and I've never found a work-around for it

Thanks for your help in advance

Alex

Alex,

Unfortunately, there is no way to change that.

As Chip said, you can't change the behaviour of the formula bar.
However, if you're working with long formulas, and need to see the
column headings, you can restore the file window (click the 'Restore
Window' button near the top right of the Excel window).

Then resize the window to start about an inch below the formula bar.

And you can hide the formula bar temporarily, too:
View|Formula Bar
(or using the accelerator keys: Alt-V,F)

If you're going to edit formulas, you may want to turn on "Edit directly in
cell", too.

Tools|options|Edit tab
is where that option hangs out.
