Forms text field minimum width

Does anyone know of a way to set the minimum width that a text form field
takes up in a sentence? I want to do this so that my form can be filled out
electronically or by hand, and that enough space is allowed for either.

takes up in a sentence? I want to do this so that my form can be filled out
electronically or by hand, and that enough space is allowed for either.

The standard default text is five nonbreaking spaces, but you can add
more. With form protection turned off, double-click the field to open
its Properties dialog. In the Default Text box, type
Ctrl+Shift+spacebar as many times as necessary.

An alternative is to create a table, turn off its cell borders, and
insert the fields in the cells, one per cell.
