I am having major difficulties with an Excel file. The
data I get comes to me in the form of a csv file which I
have to convert into an Excel spreadsheet.

When the file is converted I have to change the data
types of the fields as I have to then turn the
spreadsheet into an Access database. In one of the fields
the data type I set is TEXT the first 250 records only
contain numeric data and thereafter alternate between
numeric and alphanumeric data. The problem that arises is
that the Access database for some obscure reason rejects
the alphanumeric data and only enters the numeric data.

Is there a way of resolving this problem directly from
Excel?

In the text/number field, add an apostrophe before the number in the
first couple of rows of data. For example, '123

Access will then recognize this field as text.
