Formatting question

When linking to other workbooks, is there a way to link the formatting of a
cell with it?? For example, I have linked cells that are shaded on a sheet
in a seperate book and I would like the shading to be linked as well. Is
that possible?

In short, no.

If the formatting is dependent on cell conditions, aka conditional
formatting, you can replicate the same rules, but you can not directly link
one cell's formatting to anothers.

Okay, so can I have a conditional formatting that references cells in a
different workbook??

I have lots of spreadsheets that we use shading for to denote that it's
updated etc and everytime we have to manually go in and drag the shading down
for every sheet. So on some sheets I did conditional formatting but on
others it's a little trickier. Can you have shading based on a formula?
Also can you have conditional formatting recognize a change in formulas and
apply the shading to the cells with the first type of formula? Let me know
if this is unclear, any help is greatly appreciated!
