I intend to format my PC and I have windows Xp as my
current operating system. I was wondering if it had the
option of backing up all my device drivers so that I don't
have to go through all the trouble of locating them
again. I was not smart enough the first time to save the
drivers when I found them and I am sure their set-ups are
long gone. Any help on this matter would be greatly
appreciated.

You should save the Setups for the Drivers. ie: .exe files I would
gather them up now and save to a CD. Then when
you format and reinstall you have them right there.

Greetings --

Unless you have the original driver installation media that came
with each device, or unless you archived the downloaded driver
installation files, there's no way to do this. You cannot "extract"
the driver files and simply copy them to the new installation and
reasonably expect them to work. First of all, you're almost certain
to miss some of the essential files. Secondly, without the proper
installation routines, you've no way of recreating the hundreds of
necessary registry entries.
