Why does Vista format CDR and CDRW disks before they can be used? Is there

Mike Hall - MVP said:I believe that this is a result of having a 'packet writer' like Nero's
InCD installed.
As packet writing is not the most stable of processes, you might want to
uninstall your packet writer..

writing option in that....
Synapse Syndrome said:Actually, I think Vista's built-in burning capabilities now use Mount
Rainier. InCD is no longer needed for packet writing.

Mike Hall - MVP said:If it was Vista's built in facility, we would all get the same problem,
wouldn't we? The only time I get it is if I have InCD or something similar
installed.
Synapse Syndrome said:If Vista wants to format the disc so that it can be used for packet
writing, I would not call it an error. I have never used the built-in
burning capabilities of any version of Windows (I've always used Nero),
but I would guess you do not either?
