Can anyone tell me why cells containing figures which have bee
formatted to text in some instances still see the figures as number
and not as text. I have discovered that if I format the cells to tex
and then double click on each cell which contains a figure I would lik
to be seen as text then this fixes it but this is time consuming i
there are several cells

Re-formatting numbers to text just changes the way they are displayed, but
does not change the underlying fact that these are numbers.

You can enter the numbers as text by placing an apostrophe then the number or
by pre-formatting the range as Text before entering the numbers.

After the fact you can select the cell(s) and Data>Text to Columns>Next>Next.
In Step 3 check "Format column as:" Text.
