My screen displays the formatting marks for spaces (the dots) right shifted,
in many cases touching the following word. How can this mark be centered
between the words as it is on co-workers PCs running the same software ( MS
Word 2003 Small Business Edition running on Windows XP Professional)? Is it
because of my display resolution (1024 x 768)?

It certainly sounds like a graphics card issue. Try changing the resolution and
see if it makes a difference. You might also check with the graphics card
manufacturer whether an updated driver is available.

On my machine some fonts do this; Book Antiqua for example. What font
are you using?
