Good day,

Using Office 2003.

In the Styles & Formatting panel, a user would like to know how to set
"Formatting in use" as the default view, instead of seeing Available Styles
or other options.

Thank you!

Hélène

Click on the Styles and Formatting button to open the Pane.
At the bottom of the Pane you will see the Show: menu, select "Styles in
use" option. This should change the styles listed and stick for the next time
you open Word.
If this is not the case come back with more information of what is being
done and the results.
Hope this helps

Hello Dean,

Thank your for the response. But it is not exactly what the user's looking
for.

He created a template which will be used by the entire firm. He does not
want people to see the styles but rather "Formatting in use" every time this
template is being opened.

Although we select "Formatting in use" at the bottom, and save the document,
the choice will be changed if, between the last save and the new open, the
user changed it in another document.

Confusing, ain't I?

On the Show: choose Custom, then edit the listing for the Show Styles in use
listing, do this in the Template edit mode. When you save and then open a
document based on that template this styles listed on the Pane will be the
ones that you choose.
If the template is distributed to the users and located locally, the user
will be able to control and change what they want to see.
If the template is on a server (if this is possible that is) then I would
imagine the user will have less control but still be able to see the other
Show options if they want.
All the best

Thank you!
