Formatting in Forms

Hey there,

I need to create a typical Word Form (one that is protected) for a set
of users.

However, I need the ability for those users to enter formatted text in
those Form fields. It seems like this is not possible. Is there
another way to simulate a Word Form (protected) but allow formatting in
the data entry fields?

If it helps, the context is that these Forms are actually templates for
Educators to create Exam Questions. These questions may include text,
formatting and possibly images (so size limit cannot be an issue as
well).

Many thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Richard

It is not possible, at least not without a lot of tedious and error-prone
macro processing.

A much simpler solution is to insert continuous section breaks around the
areas where the formatted questions are to be typed (which should NOT be
form fields), separating them from areas where there are form fields that
take unformatted information. Then use the Tools > Protect Document command
(not the lock icon on the Forms toolbar), and click the Sections button to
get a dialog where you can choose to unprotect the sections for the
formatted questions.

Why not just give the educators a properly designed template instead of a
form?

Thanks for the suggestion on Section Breaks - I'll give that a shot.

Using just a template is a possibility but there is concern that the
document's elements may get altered and mess up printing down the road.

Also, these documents (based on the template / form) will be saved as
XML for searching and manipulating - so I need to ensure the layout /
structure is consistent.

Thanks again.

Cheers,

Richard
