Formatting HDD While in Use ?

Just for grins, what would happen if I used the Windows Disk Manager to try
and reformat the main HDD that contains the OS? Would the system allow it
to proceed? Needless to say it's an experiment I could perform only under
the right conditions, and I don't happen to have a system sitting around
that I'm willing to trash and rebuild just to find out.

Windows won't let you. You will note that if you right click the system
drive, that the Format option is grey'd. Or at any rate such is the case
on my system.

Yeah, not possible with the system partition or the boot volume if they
happen to be different. Would be OS suicide!
