Formatting HD

Im currently trying to format my HD however so far
unsuccessful. i set my BIOS to boot from CD ROM but for
some reason wont detect the disk. so i downloaded the XP
home edition boot disk floppy driver onto 6 disks
se;ected to boot from floppy in my BIOS and the new
problem im having is that it wont detect disk 2 and when
i press enter to start it the computer simply freezes.

Any ideas please

There is no need to use the 6 disk set. Use a Win9x floppy with CD
support. You can find images of such disks on the web.

Once you've booted from the floppy, change to the CD drive and then CD to
the \i386 directory. Run winnt.exe, *not* setup, to start the XP setup.
You'll get messages that Smartdrive is not running and things will be
slower.. continue anyway.

However, it sounds to me like you may have other hardware issues that will
cause you grief during the install. Make sure that things are actually
compatible, and remove whatever isn't.
