Formatting columns

We are using a report to print out family cards for our students at school.

Each A4 page contains 4 cards. The number of family members varies between 3
and 5.

Is it possible to conditionally format each 'card' so that families with 4
members are printed out in 2 columns, families with 3 in 3 etc.

Eg Page 1:

Family A: Bob Harry Mary

Family B: Fred Hilda (different column width to
above)
Tim Stan

Family C: Jim Lucy Steve
James Celine

Thanks in advance

Have you tried a mulitple column subreport (5 columns) on a main report that
is bound to a record source with only one record per family?
