Formatting cells difficulty

J

JR

I have just received an Excel file via an e-mail attachment.

I can adjust it to suit me me as much as I like except!

There is a column of figures. The Figures are all left aligned.
Refuses to display as typed e.g. I type 70.00 it types 70. And I
cannot get it to right align.

The cells must be already formatted as text. Copy a blank cell and go to
Edit>Paste Special>Add.

Not entirely clear

Copy a blank cell from where please?

I get the edit>paste Special>add

How do I make sure the whole column behaves.

I don't think the cells are formatted as Text, because if
they were, 70.00 would remain 70.00. Are the cells left-
aligned?

As to getting 70.00 to stay that way, there are a couple
of possibilities: You can change the cells to be Text,
then right-align them. Or, if you always want 2 digits
behind the decimal, use the Number format with 2 digits.
