format reading pane

all text in my reading pane is centered and I am unable to have it left
aligned. Only when I reply and choose HTML format I am able to do several
formatting steps to get it left aligned.
Any suggestions?

We are using Outlook 2007. It worked from the start, but all of the sudden
we have centered text as a default in the reading pane when receiving messages
