Format problem in Word 2003

Using Word 2003, English UK on XP Pro. When I format numbering or bullets or
indent in a line or paragraph of document, whole document changes until I
click undo button, then desired change is OK. This also happens when I select
a word to format as e.g. Bold, Italic or Underline - whole document is
formatted until I click undo, when selected area remains formatted and
remainder of document is OK. Suggestions welcomed.

Try Unchecking "Automatically Update" option on your current style or styles
that are on when you making the changes - it could be Normal it could be
Heading 1 etc.
