format not valid

I have managed to open an Excel document in Word (reads
rubbish) and can no longer open it in Excel,
states 'format is not valid'. Anyone know how I can
retrieve the document in excel format?

No way, it's destroyed beyond hope. If you didn't click Save, then Word's
Autosave killed it.

or using Word <g>. Ok, at least for spreadsheet work.
