Format drive or Transfer data

BlankI'm running a 12 gig hard drive with 6% free space left with XP home
upgrade from 98 SE, & I just got a 80 gig HD to replace it. I would like to
start fresh & install 98 SE then XP upgrade on the 80 gig HD and then add
the programs that I need and use like (NAV, NIS , OFFICE)because when I up
graded to XP there are some old programs/files that were left on the old
drive and are no longer needed or work with XP ( like Norton cleansweep, NAV
2002 Rescue to name a few)on my old drive and I don't want to delete old
files that new programs might be using. If I do this will XP work? Do I have
to activate XP again? Is there a key code file I can transfer to the new
drive so I don't have to activate it again? Or should I just transfer the
old to the new and keep the junk files.

Thanks for the info

BlankHere is my 2 cents
remove old HD
Install new HD
install XP...use the 98CD as verification for previous version
install all XP drivers for video/audio/etc
install all of your programs
install old HD as slave drive
transfer work files from old to new HD
format old HD
use old HD as a backup drive
