Format: cells problem

I have XP with office 2003, but had the same problem with Windows
2000/office 2000.
When I click Format: cells, I rarely get the entire menu (Number,
Alignment, etc). Most often I only get one menu option, which is always Font.
If I re-try enough times I can usually eventually get all the menu options.
When I go to the next cell, the same thing will happen & I waste much time
trying to do a simple task.
How do I fix this so I get all the Format: cells menu options each time?

It sounds like you're still editing the cell.

Hit enter (to finish the change), then click Format|Cells.

(Excel allows you to change the font of different strings within a cell. You
can bold or change colors or change size or... to make it stand out in the
cell.)

I agree with Dave that you are in the edit mode. You should be only
selecting the cell with a single click. If you double click it allows for
only the font menu to be available under format>cells. You get the full menu
with a single click.
